In Lilly’s ceramic endeavors, she enjoys the process. The feel of the clay and the focus that is required to attain control while wheel throwing. Although the relinquishment of power that ceramics demands, and one’s inability to predict the final outcome of a piece is the real attraction for her. In this way, working with clay functions as a relief from the sometimes stressful process of painting. The two mediums balance each other out.

This collection of jars with its simple lines and angles, creates a relaxing serenity that contrasts her two-dimensional work. An outlet which requires no contextual meaning and can simply exist without deeper contemplation.
